“But when from a long-distant past nothing subsists…taste and smell alone, more fragile but more enduring, more unsubstantial, more persistent, more faithful, remain poised a long time, remembering…”
- Marcel Proust, Remembrance of Things Past
Fond Memories
One of our favorite client comments came from a bride long after we had catered her wedding.
Every time she tastes lamb, years after her wedding, she recalls the Slow Roast Rack of Lamb with Wild Pacific Huckleberries that we served at her autumn winery wedding. She said it transports her back to that romantic late afternoon…and no lamb dish has ever compared.
Food has always played a central role in bringing people together and creating memories at important celebrations. Few occasions are more important than a wedding day and we savor each one we get to help make remarkable.
One of a Kind
Every wedding we cater is truly custom designed. Each menu is created for that day, using the best seasonal ingredients, including those from our garden, and prepared with great care. We limit the number of events we accept, ensuring than each one receives our full attention.
Why do we put such effort into finding and even growing the best ingredients, hiring the finest staff, and turning down business so we can fully focus on each wedding we do? We believe your wedding meal should be among the most memorable of your life.
“And suddenly the memory revealed itself. The taste was that of the little piece of madeleine…”
- Marcel Proust, Remembrance of Things Past
“Neuroscience now knows that Proust was right…This is because smell and taste are the only senses that connect directly to the hippocampus, the center of the brain’s long-term memory…All our other senses (sight, touch, and hearing)…are much less efficient at summoning up our past…”
- Jonah Lehrer, Proust Was a Neuroscientist
